Jag är mer mark än människa

This painting is built up from multiple layers of color gathered from different places on Öland. The fabric is dyed with decoctions of juniper bushes and acorns, with the juniper branches leaving their traces on the cloth. I have processed red and gray limestone into pigments from which I then made crayons and paint. The underpainting is made from red limestone, which I applied to the fabric and then rinsed off in a gesture resembling the sea. The top layer is clay from what was once the seabed. The fabric, which I received from two close friends, had been folded for many years, and I have used the creases that formed as part of the painting’s composition. 164×134 cm,

From the project I am more earth than human.
